Bachelor’s degree in computer science and information technologies


Knowledge and understanding:

  • a thorough mathematical training in the field of discrete mathematics, computational mathematics, algorithms and mathematical logic, probability theory, theory of decision-making;
  • conceptual knowledge of philosophy, logic, cross-cultural communications, history of Ukrainian and world culture, psychology and pedagogy, sociology, political science, political economy, Constitution basics and legal regulation of business, all contributing to the development of general culture and socialization of personality;
  • profound knowledge of programming languages and paradigms, software engineering, operating systems;
  • knowledge of tools for developing software systems;
  • basic knowledge in the areas of system research, system modelling, system analysis of informatization objects;
  • basic knowledge in computer engineering (computer circuitry, computer architecture, microprocessor systems, computer networks);
  • knowledge of modern theories of databases and knowledge-based systems arrangement, methods and technologies of their development, parallel and distributed systems;
  • knowledge of the basic approaches, methods and technologies of artificial intelligence and instruments of building intelligent systems;
  • knowledge of the theoretical characteristics of numerical methods, possibilities of their adjustment to engineering problems;
  • knowledge of server and web technologies and of web design tools;
  • knowledge of at least one foreign language

Application of knowledge and understanding:

  • the use of technology for diagnosis, assessment and research tools for the updating and transformation of information objects;
  • skills in solving complex unpredictable problems in a specialized field of professional activities in the IT departments, firms and companies of various ownership forms within different industries under uncertainty;
  • the ability to apply the methods of monitoring, collection and interpretation of information (data), identification and classification of information objects;
  • the ability to analyze and synthesize scientific and technical information through the use of innovative approaches;
  • the ability to team working and bridging project-based activities in the field of information technology and programming;
  • knowledge of modern technologies and tools of software systems engineering;
  • the ability to apply algorithms theory in the process of developing mathematical maintenance and software to support information systems;
  • project-related presentation skills (written, oral and visualized), in English specifically;
  • the ability to perform the functions of a system analyst, information technology practitioner, database designer, an expert in software engineer and testing etc. 

Making judgments:

  • the ability to perceive general civilization achievements of world culture, science and technology, formation of a personal civil position as to market and democratic mechanisms of society development, understanding its causal relationships, and the ability to use them in professional and public activities;
  • understanding of the need for honesty and transparency in all aspects of professional activity in the fields of computer science, information technology, public administration and corporate management, economics, business etc. to ensure the country’s sustainable economic development;
  • taking responsibility for own personal and professional development, as well as of subordinates and/or groups of persons;
  • the ability to apply methods of logical reasoning, analytical, innovative and critical thinking;
  • the formation of motivation for further independent lifelong learning.
